Introduction
Yvonne was born and raised in inner city Chicago and as the daughter of Puerto Rican parents, she speaks Spanish fluently, She accepted Christ as her savior at age 15 and has continued her walk of faith since that time. When Yvonne realized she was skilled in providing advice and has gifts of wisdom and knowledge, she began her long journey to become a Christian therapist; with a goal of helping Christians who struggle in their faith due to relational, emotional, or mental health issues,
Her schooling began with a B.A. at Roosevelt University of Chicago, then a Master of Divinity from Trinity Evangelical Divinity, And finally, after a 19 year pursuit, Yvonne concluded her studies attaining a Masters from Adler School of Psychology of Chicago, IL.
Yvonne has worked as a Crisis Counselor, making emergency diagnoses and mental health treatment decisions for those in crisis. She has also worked as an outpatient Juvenile Justice counselor, working with youth on probation from gang affiliated crimes, providing substance abuse, individual and family counseling.
Yvonne moved to the Phoenix area 2 years ago to work with children and teens that come into the United States on their own. She now joins Christian Counseling Services integrating her faith and mental health treatment education and experience..
Yvonne is a licensed counselor in Arizona and Illinois, currently working towards certification as a trauma professional, and is a member of the National Board of Certified Counselors. She works primarily with adults and couples using Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as her primary treatment modalities.
