Licensed Associate Counselor | Physician Assistant | Trauma-Informed Therapist
Shari is passionate about walking with individuals through life’s hardest moments toward healing and wholeness. Her desire to support others on their healing journey began as a young adult while volunteering at a mission in New York City, where she worked with men and women experiencing homelessness and addiction who were seeking transformation through a faith-based recovery program. This formative experience sparked a lifelong commitment to understanding emotional healing and human resilience.
Shari went on to earn a Master of Arts in Family Counseling from Eastern Nazarene College and is now a Licensed Associate Counselor, bringing together a rich tapestry of life experience, clinical training, and professional knowledge. Her personal healing journey and her work with others have deepened her empathy and strengthened her dedication to helping people discover hope, joy, and purpose.
She works with individuals navigating a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, grief, low self-esteem, mental illness, neurodevelopmental disorders, complex trauma, relational trauma, and overwhelming life stressors. Believing strongly in the healing power of safe relationships, Shari also recognizes that faith can be a vital source of strength and comfort during difficult times.
Her therapeutic approach is trauma-informed and integrative. She is trained in EMDR and is continually expanding her skills in Internal Family Systems (IFS), Somatic Therapy, and Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP). She also incorporates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to tailor care to each client’s unique needs.
In addition to her counseling work, Shari is a licensed physician assistant with experience in outpatient primary care, integrative medicine, hospital medicine, and addiction and mental health treatment. She has a particular interest in the mind-body connection and the ways trauma, adversity, and chronic stress can impact physical health.
Outside of her professional life, Shari enjoys walking her dog, spending time with loved ones, traveling (especially road trips), camping, gardening, and restoring her old home.
Shari currently provides therapy services via teletherapy under the supervision of Claudia (Chloe) Cooper, LPC, LIAC. She can be reached at (805) 341-6956.
